The former head of the Glenn Inquiry into child abuse and domestic violence is writing her own report on the issue, which is expected to be released in the new year.
Ruth Herbert and nine other members of Sir Owen Glenn's team quit the inquiry earlier this year, after it was revealed Sir Owen offered a plea of no contest to an allegation of abuse by a woman in Hawaii more than a decade ago.
Ms Herbert has formed The Impact Collective, which includes former Glenn Inquiry member Jessica Trask along with Bill Ryan.
She says their report is not in competition with the Glenn Inquiry, but is aimed at adding weight to it.
"We're hoping it will complement it and strenghten it - likewise we're hoping it will do the same for the work that the Government has (underway)", she says.
Sir Owen has invested $3 million into his inquiry.
The Government has set also up an expert advisory group to tackle family violence.
