A doctor who wrote other people's names on prescriptions for sleeping pills and tranquillisers she wanted for herself has been found guilty of professional misconduct.
Diana Lynne Craig, of Auckland, has also been told to meet costs of more than $18,000.
The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal said over 15 months from February 2014, Dr Craig wrote prescriptions in her own and other people's names for the sleeping tablet Zopiclone and the psychoactive drug Triazolam.
The tribunal said Dr Craig suffered from significant medical issues and was under stress, but it was dishonest and a breach of trust.
It said if she wanted to practice again, she would be banned from prescribing controlled drugs to patients, and any drugs to herself.
