A driver is in custody after a car chase through central Auckland today.

The chase began after police tried to stop a car in Upper Queen Street, and they gave up the pursuit a short time later on the grounds that it was too dangerous.
The chase was resumed when the car was spotted again by a patrol and it came to an end with the vehicle hitting a bus and injuring a pedestrian.
The pedestrian had minor injuries and didn't need hospital treatment.
