A teenager who died at a Coromandel beach was being towed on a sea biscuit when he was struck by the boat's propeller.
Emergency services were called to Pauanui Beach just before 4pm yesterday.
One teenage boy died and another was flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition, with multiple lacerations.
Rescue helicopter staff say two teenagers were on a sea biscuit, when a wave hit the towing boat and spun it around, causing the propeller to hit them both.
The other boy was flown to Waikato Hospital with multiple lacerations and is in a stable condition.
