Two people were assaulted at gunpoint during a masked invasion of their home at the weekend.
Police said two men disguised with scarves entered the Holmes Hill house on the outskirts of Oamaru about 5am on Saturday.
The pair woke a man and woman in the master bedroom of the house and held them at gunpoint, demanding money and drugs.
The couple who were assaulted were taken to Oamaru Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries.
Detective Sergeant Chris Henderson said it was not clear whether anything was taken from the house.
Officers have spoken with the victims and carried out a scene examination, but want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the area on Saturday morning.
