An environmental group is appealing the Ports of Auckland's plans to dredge the Rangitoto shipping channel.
The Ports were granted consent to deepen the channel in August.
The application drew more than 200 public submissions to the Auckland Council - of these, 194 were in opposition and 13 were in support.
Environmental group Protect Our Gulf was one of those opposing the dredging due to concerns around environmental harm.
Spokeswoman Kathy Voyles said the group was hoping to avoid taking further action following the hearing of the submissions.
