Slips have closed roads in Wairarapa, north east of Wellington.

One is blocking the Kaiwhata River causing the road to flood.
The Kaiwhata River bridge is also closed and the detour will take more than an hour.
It will be several days before the road reopens.
Tora Road is closed about 8km in due to large slips and crews are working to clear them.
Once they are done, they will move on to a slip that is partially blocking White Rock Road past Ushers Hill.
The work is expected to be completed by this evening.
