Police have launched an investigation after a woman's body was found near the Tāmaki River in east Auckland.

The body was discovered shortly before 2pm Sunday, near Waikaremoana Place in Pakuranga Heights.
A police spokesperson says the death is being treated as unexplained.
They said a post-mortem may be completed by the end of Monday.
