Firefighters are dousing down hotspots following a large fire at an abandoned house in the Christchurch suburb of Fendalton.

Fire and Emergency said the fire on Fendalton Road, near Glandovey Road, was reported at 2.15am on Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson said the two-storey house was well involved in flames when crews arrived.
There were six appliances and a command unit called to the scene, with three crews remaining on site.
No one was believed to be inside at the time.
