A person has moderate injuries after being shot overnight on the North Island's East Cape.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to a report of an injured person at an address on Te Araroa Road at 3.15am.
The spokesperson said the victim was shot and went to the nearby marae to seek assistance.
Police have spoken with the victim and are making further enquiries.
