One person is dead and another in hospital following a crash near Matata in Bay of Plenty last night.
In a statement, police said a two-vehicle crash was reported on State Highway 2 near Matata shortly after 9pm on Thursday.
Police confirmed one person died as a result of the crash while another person was taken to Whakatāne Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The road is expected to reopen shortly.
