Several people have been injured after a spate of crashes around New Zealand on Sunday.
One person is in a critical condition and one is moderate after a vehicle hit the barrier on State Highway 2 at Melling in Lower Hutt just before 5am.
One northbound lane is still closed.
Later, a person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Kihikihi Road, Te Awamutu in Waikato about 5.20am.
A seriously injured patient was taken to hospital after a crash on Mackenzie Drive in Twizel about 2.45am.
On Sunday, a person died and two received moderate injuries after a two-vehicle collision at Glenbervie near Whāngarei. A motorcyclist also died in a crash in Palmerston North.
