Police believe the body found in grassland in West Harbour is missing man Dylan Barford, who was last seen about three weeks ago.
Dylan Barford, 34, has been missing since Saturday 23 September.
Officers were notified of a body near the Hobsonville Road off-ramp in West Harbour just after 1.30pm today.
Police said while a formal identification process still needed to be carried out, they believed the body was Dylan Barford.
A scene examination was underway and police were asking people to avoid the area while it was ongoing.
Barford's family has been notified and were being provided support, said police.
An investigation into the circumstances of the death was underway and a post mortem was expected to be carried out in due course.
