A man accused of hospitalising numerous people in Auckland after driving into them at a Half Moon Bay bus stop on Sunday has been denied bail.
The 22-year-old appeared in Manukau District Court, in police custody, facing at least seven charges - including causing grievous bodily harm to one victim, injuring three people and wounding another.
Judge Richard McIlraith denied his bail application, saying the alleged offending was extremely serious.
No plea was entered.
The incident occurred on Prince Regent Drive in Half Moon Bay around 5.30pm on Sunday.
Those hospitalised as a result remained in hospital, police said, without specifying how many that was.
"Police understand this incident has caused great concern amongst the community, and we are continuing to investigate the circumstances of what took place," police said in a statement.
They asked anyone else who may have seen the incident to get in touch - phone 105 or go online using 'Update My Report', quoting file number 231210/5003.
