Firefighters have extinguished a large blaze at a workshop in Ōtaki, on the Kāpiti Coast.
Crews found the single-storey complex well-alight when they arrived at Swamp Road after 1pm this afternoon.
They removed some roofing iron and the fire was put out just after 6pm.
A specialist fire investigator was on site, but the blaze was not being treated as suspicious.
No one was injured.
Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager Andrew Tollison earlier said extra crews from around the region had been called in.
They faced issues getting water to the site, he said.
Heavy machinery was used to dismantle parts of the building to help firefighters get to the flames.
