Irish singer-songwriter and political activist Bob Geldof will be coming to New Zealand early next year for a show that marks his milestones.

'An Evening with Bob Geldof: Songs and Stories from an Extraordinary Life' will be arriving in Auckland on 28 March at Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre and Wellington on 29 March at the Michael Fowler Centre.

The 73-year-old's tour coincides with the 50th anniversary of the formation of his rock band The Boomtown Rats and the 40th anniversary of the historic Live Aid concert, which Geldof organised to raise funds and awareness for famine relief in Africa.

Geldof was last in New Zealand in 2019 for a charity event alongside Fleetwood Mac legend Mick Fleetwood.

His latest multimedia show will blend acoustic performances with anecdotes and stories about his life, including his tough upbringing, writing hit songs like 'I Don't Like Mondays', inventing the TV show Survivor, founding Band Aid, and being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

"This tour is more than a musical event; it's a source of inspiration for all," Dustin Lockett of live tour promoting company The Entertainment Lab said.

Tickets go on sale at TEG Dainty's website from 1pm on 7 November.
