Police have found and arrested Damon Anderson, who escaped custody during a visit to Waikato Hospital just before Christmas.
Anderson, 48, escaped Corrections custody at Waikato Hospital on 23 December.
In a statement, police said he was found early on Wednesday at an Ōpārau address and taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with escaping custody and was due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Thursday.
