A flight from Queenstown to Auckland has diverted to Hamilton after two failed attempts at landing.

Flight NZ612 diverted to Hamilton due to wind shear conditions on approach to Auckland.

The aircraft will refuel before heading back to Auckland.

Air NZ confirmed it landed in Hamilton about 1.01pm

It explained wind shear conditions are a sudden change in wind speed or direction.
