A man has been arrested after a what police desribed as a "callous and unprovoked" attack at a Palmerston North park on Wednesday.
Poilice were called to Dogwood Way at about 1pm after reports a person had received injuries consistent with a stab wound.
The victim was taken to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition.
A 25-year-old man is in custody and is due to appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday on charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
