The Canterbury Regional Council has confirmed a forestry worker critically injured in North Canterbury was a contractor working on a council-owned forestry block.
A person was flown to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition after emergency services were called to West Eyreton on Monday.
A council spokesperson said it had initiated an investigation, and was supporting the injured contractor and others impacted by the incident.
