Two men have been arrested, and a third is one the run from police, after a ram raid at a Auckland liquor store overnight.
Police were called to the burglary just before 12.30am Wednesday at a Bishop Dunn Place store in Flat Bush.
Detective Inspector Karen Bright said two stolen vehicles had arrived at the scene.
"One of the vehicles was used to gain entry into the business," she said.
"The Eagle helicopter deployed to the area and located the offenders fleeing the scene in one of the vehicle."
Police watched the offenders drive to a nearby address on Belinda Avenue. The offenders then abandoned the vehicle, jumping into another vehicle which stopped nearby.
"One offender got out and returned to the vehicle that had just been abandoned," Det Insp Bright said.
"He drove this vehicle a short distance before it crashed into a fence, and he fled on foot."
A police dog handler searched the area, while the Eagle helicopter tracked the second vehicle heading south to Takanini.
Police spiked the vehicle twice as it then travelled north to Ōtara.
"The vehicle became immobile and both offenders were arrested without further incident," Bright said.
Two men were arrested, including a gang associate.
The pair, aged 20 and 24, will face charges in the Manukau District Court. These include burglary and multiple counts of unlawfully taking a vehicle. The 24-year-old has also been charged with dangerous driving.
Bright said police are trying to locate the third offender.
