The young boy who died after being hit by a vehicle in a driveway in the Whangārei suburb of Te Kamo on Sunday has been named.
Police said 3-year-old Reign Puriri died tragically at a Church Road address on Sunday afternoon.
"Our thoughts are with Reign's whānau at this very difficult time as they prepare for his tangi," Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer said.
"The whānau need time to grieve after losing their boy, and they have asked police to convey their need for privacy at this time."
Pilmer said police were still investigating the event.
