Police are investigating reports of a firearm sighting in the Wellington surburb of Johnsonville but say there is no risk to the public.
A cordon was in place around Broderick Road in Johnsonville, but it has now been lifted.
Police earlier said some staff were armed as a precaution.
Multiple police cars were seen patrolling the area.
