Police were called to Hamilton Airport on Saturday morning after two passengers on an international flight started causing issues.
The flight was diverted to Hamilton in the middle of the night due to flooding in Auckland, and remained at the airport until the morning.
Police said they were called to the airport at about 5.10am because two separate passengers were acting out.
Flight crew de-escalated the situation by the time police arrived, and the plane departed at about 8am.
It comes after a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the Auckland region Saturday afternoon.
MetService said the thunderstorms were expected to be accompanied by torrential rain.
The rain caused flooding throughout much of the region, with potential for more surface and flash flooding.
