Police said they were called to a crash Sunday afternoon involving a truck and trailer unit at Waiwera South.
The Otago Daily Times reported that lambs had been injured and "less than 10" had to be euthanised, while the rest of the sheep were corralled.

"Basically all we did was assist police and ambulance herd sheep... and help clean up the road."
Police said diversions are in place although not suitable for heavy vehicles.
