A person died after a car crashed in the central Hawke's Bay town of Waipawa this morning.
Emergency services were called to Racecourse Road just after 4am. The Serious Crash Unit has examined the scene, and enquiries are ongoing.
It was the second fatal crash in the region within three hours.
In the first case in Waiora, a person died after a single-vehicle crash overnight on Saturday.
Police said emergency services were called to the crash on Kopu Road about 1.05am.
A police said the Serious Crash Unit had examined the scene and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
