Police have made an arrest after a woman was found dead at a property in the central North Island on Friday.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with breaching a protection order, and will appear in Rotorua District Court on Saturday.
"Further charges are being considered," Detective Inspector Craig Rawlinson said.
Emergency services were called to an address in Hinerangi Street, Tūrangi about 6.30am on Friday, where the woman was found dead.
"The investigation is continuing, and as part of this police are still seeking any witnesses to what occurred, and any CCTV or video footage," Rawlinson said.
"A large police presence will remain in Tūrangi for the next few days as we piece together what happened."
Taupō Mayor David Trewavas on Friday said his heart went out to the people of Tūrangi.
