A 35-year-old man faces several charges following a crash on State Highway 1 south of Whangārei on Saturday.

Senior Sergeant Steph Hudson, the head of Northland Road Policing, said two cars, one of which was towing a trailer, were involved in the crash at Oakleigh about 5.40pm.

One of drivers appeared in Whangārei District Court on Monday charged with failing to stop to ascertain injury, driving while suspended and careless driving.

He also faced unrelated charges of burglary and obtaining by deception.

The 35-year-old was remanded in custody and is due back in court on 20 October.

Hudson said police still wanted to hear from anyone who saw the crash or who had dashcam footage.

Information could be passed to police by calling 105 quoting file number 250928/6133.

No one was seriously injured in the crash.
