Hamilton Police have confirmed the identity of a woman found in the Whanganui River on Tuesday as 56-year-old Tina Gray from Taumarunui.
Taumarunui police had been investigating the disappearance of Gray who was last seen in Taumarunui beside the Whanganui River on 25 September.
Police said following an extensive search over the past ten days, on Sunday a body was recovered from the Whanganui River, 46kms from Taumarunui.
Ngāti Hāua Taumarunui have lifted the rāhui placed on the Whanganui River from Victory Bridge to Whakahoro - the iwi extended their aroha to the whānau.
