Major blaze and injuries after bus and car crash on Tamaki Drive, Parnell

Two people have been injured in a firey crash between a bus and a car in central Auckland

Emergency services were called to the crash on Tamaki Drive just after 9pm.

St John said one person was in a serious condition and one was stable.

It had three ambulances and two rapid response units at the scene.

Fire and Emergency said it had 10 appliances at the scene.

It logged the crash as a 'heavy rescue', with crews from Auckland City, Parnell, Avondale, Remuera, Papatoetoe, Ellerslie, Saint Heliers, Otahuhu, Grey Lynn, and Birkenhead attending.

RNZ has approached police for comment.

On social media, users posted saying they could see a number of emergency services responding.

One person said they had witnessed the crash, which they said appeared to be a "head on collision" between a car and a bus.

Another said they could see the flames: "Incredible flashes like if I could imagine a shed full of fireworks going up."
