A man is in hospital after he was seriously assaulted by several attackers in his Ōpōtiki home on Thursday morning.
The man sustained serious injuries in the assault, which was believed to have involved several offenders, police said.
Police said the he was transported to hospital and enquiries are under way to identify and locate those responsible.
A scene guard was in place at the house where the attack took place.
Nearby residents can expect to see a continued police presence as enquiries continue.
