Former National MP Mike Sabin is the new chief executive of Northland's luxury Peppers Carrington Resort.
A spokesperson for the resort confirmed the former Northland MP was appointed this week.
Shanghai CRED Real Estate bought the 1000ha resort on the Karikari peninsula for nearly $29 million in November 2013.
Mr Sabin resigned from Parliament in January.
His resignation sparked the Northland by-election on 28 March, won by New Zealand First leader Winston Peters.
