Flu cases are continuing to rise around the country, with the highest incidence in South Canterbury.
The latest weekly update from the Institute of Environmental Science and Research has confirmed the rise nationally.
It said there had been 487 consultations with family doctors for influenza-related illnesses in the past week alone - up from 396 the previous week.
Flu is recorded as being at epidemic level in South Canterbury, and is also high in Whanganui and the neighbouring Mid-Central District.
Levels are now at, or close to, levels seen in 2010 and 2012 when flu was also particularly high.
