New Zealand's world champion Linda Villumsen couldn't repeat her feats from the time trial in the road race at the UCI World Championships in Virginia on Sunday.
Villumsen finished in the peloton in 22nd place, 17 seconds behind the winner from Great Britain, Lizzy Armistead.

Villumsen couldn't work her way to the front as the powerhouse teams in the peloton chased down a nine-strong breakaway with less than two kilometres remaining in the eight-lap 130-km race.
The championships conclude with the men's race of 260 kilometres over 16 laps loops of the downtown circuit.
