The New Zealand A top order batters had a worrying start to their tour of Bangladesh.
Four of the top five batters all scored ducks in their opening 50 over game against Bangladesh A in Sylhet.
After winning the toss New Zealand was dismissed for 147 in the 35th over with the home side going on to reach their target in the 28th over to score a seven wicket win.
Opener Rhys Mariu made 42, but he watched Dale Phillips, Matthew Boyle, Muhammad Abbas and captain Nick Kelly all come and go without scoring.
New Zealand was 58 for six when Mariu was dismissed, but fortunately number eight batter Dean Foxcroft hit 72 off 64 balls to give their innings some respectability.
In reply Bangladesh didn't have too many problems reaching their target.
Kristian Clark picked up two wickets for 30 runs from his five overs, with Foxcroft taking the other wicket.
Game two of the three match 50-over series is Wednesday.
The two sides then meet in two unofficial Tests.
