Leading Maori dance choreographer Tanemahuta Gray wants to help refurbish a Christchurch theatre damaged by the Canterbury earthquakes by taking his stage show there.
The whakaaturanga (production) Tiki Tane Mahuta would be held at the re-opened Isaac Theatre Royal in May next year and is a bi-cultural aerial production that includes music from Tiki Tane, who originates from Otautahi.
He said he was pleased he could provide some entertainment for a city that has missed out on a lot of theatre productions due to the damaging quakes.
Mr Gray recently won the $10,000 AMP People's Choice Scholarship, which is helping towards getting the show to Christchurch.
He also received funding support from Ngai Tahu and number of other organisations to take his show to Te Wai Pounamu.
The Matatini National Kapa Haka Championships would also be held in Christchurch in March.
