The national body that represents Māori language immersion schools has launched its new curriculum in the Far North today.
Te Marautanga o Te Aho Matua was produced by Te Rūnanga Nui o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Maori o Aotearoa after being trialled at some kura kaupapa across the country.
Its tumuaki, Toni Waho, said it embraced a Māori world view that validated Te Reo, culture and spirituality.
He said Te Marautanga is a collection of holistic programmes based on Te Aho Matua - the philosophy that defines the special character of Kura Kaupapa Maori.
The new curriculum was launched today at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Pukemiro in Kaitaia.
