Te Māngai Pāho has appointed a new head of content to help drive its Māori media strategy and aim for better and more engaging te reo Māori content.
Te Anga Nathan is taking on the newly created role of Pou Arahi Hōtaka or head of content at the Māori broadcast funding agency.
He said he was humbled and excited by the appointment to guide its new Māori media strategy.
Mr Nathan was the Head of Communications and Digital at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and was previously Executive Online Producer at SBS National Indigenous Television in Sydney Australia.
Mr Nathan will lead the organisation's response to the new Māori media strategy, He Mahere Whakapuaki Reo, while also overseeing the Content Funding Team.
"I also look forward to working with the Māori media sector to create innovative, engaging and effective Māori language content for broadcast across multiple platforms that promote the Māori language and culture," he said.
Te Māngai Pāho Chief Executive Larry Parr said he was pleased to have secured someone of the calibre of Te Anga.
"There couldn't be a better time for Te Māngai Pāho to bring on someone like Te Anga, particularly with advances in technology and convergence of media.
"With his commitment to te reo Māori and broad media experience, he is well placed to lead our drive for better and more engaging te reo Māori content," Mr Parr said.
Mr Nathan is set to take up the role later this month.
