Greenpeace says the first of its foreign personnel in Russia has been granted a visa allowing him to leave.
Anthony Perrett, 32, was among 30 from 16 different countries detained in September after a Gazprom oil platform was boarded at sea.
He will be home in Wales before New Year, after being held in prison for two months in Murmansk and St. Petersburg.
The BBC reports another member of the group, Dmitri Litvinov, a Swedish-American of Russian origin, earlier boarded a train to Finland on Thursday.
