A New Zealand gay rights advocate has been invited to meet the Queen.
Tabby Besley, 22, is the only Kiwi to be awarded a Queen’s Young Leader Award, a new honour given to 60 young people worldwide for their devotion to Commonwealth values.
The Wellington resident runs gay rights charity InsideOUT, which supports students to set up gay-straight alliance groups in high schools.
“What do I wear? That’s my main question. I’m a bit nervous” she told the Dominion Post.
“What hair colour will be right for the Queen?”
Besley is also a finalist for Young New Zealander of the Year 2015.
So pleased to announce that our National Coordinator Tabby Besley is representing New Zealand as one of the first #queensyoungleaders!
