Just as Wellington’s Writers Week has wrapped up, the line-up for the Auckland Writers Festival has been announced.
Also included in the line-up is The Goodies’ Bill Oddie; Paula Hawkins, author of psychological thriller The Girl on the Train; Fat is a Feminist Issue author Susie Orbach; Irish poet Paul Muldoon; Pulitzer Prize winner Jane Smiley and satirist Steve Braunias.
You can see the full line-up on the Auckland Writers Festival website.
Now in its 16th year, the Auckland Writers Festival will host 150 events over the week with a full programme of panel discussions, readings, stand-up poetry, literary theatre and a chance to get a deeper understanding of your favourite writer’s work.
General public sales will be available from 9am Friday 18 March via Ticketmaster.
Also included in the festival is the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards, which will be held on the opening night. The books are judged in four main categories: poetry, fiction, illustrated non-fiction and general non-fiction. The winner of best novel will receive $50,000 at a ceremony at the Auckland Town Hall on Tuesday 10 May.
