An Iraqi lieutenant-colonel based at the Iraqi camp where New Zealand troops are stationed has been killed.

Media reports said he was ambushed at his home.
The Defence Force said his death was a matter that did not affect its mission.
There are 143 New Zealand military personnel based at Camp Taji where they are training Iraqi soldiers.
A Defence spokesperson said they constantly monitored the security situation in Iraq and had security measures in place at the Taji Military Complex.
