You can't beat Wellington on a good night Photo: Bryan Crump
There's something magic about a city becalmed in the middle of the night.
On such a night, RNZ Concert's Bryan Crump went for a swim in Oriental Bay, then hung around to record the sounds of the city wafting across the harbour.
Along with the waves lapping the shore, you can hear the white noise of hundreds of air conditioning units and the rumble of the container terminal, because while most of us are sleeping, a whole army of workers keeps the country moving.
If you're feeling a bit bereft and becalmed today, why not make this recording your sound track for a few minutes?
