This week, international music specialists have congregated for the Going Global Music Summit 2025.

The evenings were a showcase of our vibrant emerging talent, and the days were full of the nitty gritty of what it takes to get known as an Aotearoa artist overseas.

Mild Orange are a band who met early in life - in fact two of them went to kindy together. They started in Dunedin, then after their first album Foreplay became successful in 2018 - getting tens of millions of streams after attention from American YouTubers and bloggers - they relocated to England.

The fourth Mild Orange album has just come out. It’s called The Glow, made by the same lineup, including singer, guitarist and producer Josh Mehrtens.

While visiting Wisconsin, Josh Mehrtens calls home and talks to Tony Stamp about the new album.

15:40 Mim Jensen is out of the shadows

Shadow of the Gift is the name of an EP that came out earlier this year by Ōtautahi Christchurch singer-songwriter Mim Jensen. It’s just her second, but she’s already gaining acclaim - she’s supported The Beths and Shihad at shows around the country, and Shadow of the Gift got great reviews, including on The Sampler.

Ōtautahi-based artist Mim Jensen's EP, Shadow of the Gift, came out in March.
