In May 1970, The Beatles issued their final album, Let It Be, containing music recorded over a year earlier. The Let It Be movie was released to theatres at the same time, documenting the making of the album and, it appeared, the breaking up of the band.

The Beatles disliked the film, and the Let It Be recording sessions in January 1969 came to be known as a dreary and tense period in which The Beatles hated working together. However, 50 years later, New Zealand film maker Peter Jackson viewed all the raw footage and listened to 150 hours of audio and found the truth to be very different.
His 8-hour documentary series, Get Back, was released on Disney Plus in November 2021 to the delight of Beatles fans.
