‘It’s about bloody time’ according to Flying Nun Records. Tāmaki Makaurau indie-rock outfit Voom are back after 19 years with their new album, Something Good is Happening. The band, self-described ‘audio hoarders’, have pulled from their eclectic bodies of work demoed over the decades, and distilled it all down into an album that captures their quintessential Voom-ness.
Something Good is Happening jumps from fuzzy pop songs, to ‘sad-sack’ ballads, with some experimental instrumentation wedged in between.
Voom joined Maggie Tweedie live in the RNZ studios where they revealed what they’ve been up to in their busy lives, what to expect from the album and the extent of their demo-hoarding tendencies.
