French Film Festival
There's always a slight split-personality thing going on with the mighty French film industry. On the one level they make impressive art films, often for the overseas market. You can see many of them at earnest, international film festivals around the world. And on another level they make wildly commercial comedies and dramas for local consumption. And some of the best are about to be shown here at the always popular French Film Festival Aotearoa. Over winter, the Festival travels to 17 locations around the country - from Auckland and Kerikeri to Matakana and New Plymouth. Simon Morris talks to Festival Director Fergus Grady, just got back from this year's Cannes Film Festival.
