10:05 Crisis to Contentment - Dr Marny Lishman
A midlife crisis is often stereotyped by the cliched spontaneous sports car purchase or dramatic haircuts.
But as psychologist and author Dr Marny Lishman sees it "each phase of life brings with it its own set of challenges, and the average middle-aged person is busier than ever."
Her latest book 'Crisis to Contentment' is about navigating the trials and tribulations of adulthood.
Dr Lishman joins us from Perth, Australia.
10.30 Chef Peter Gordon - Mexican chocolate cake
Peter Gordon is the pioneer of fushion food and for 40 years he's gathered ingredients, textures and techniques from the kitchens of the world.
He's owned award winning restaurants from Wellington to London, New York and Auckland and we are thrilled he's including Summer Weekends in his summer plans this month.
This morning chef Peter Gordon is guiding us through the making of Mexican chocolate cake.
11.05 Surf Club Maketu
Each week on Summer Weekends we're heading to the beach - not to swim or build sandcastles - but to check in with a few of New Zealand's 74 surf lifesaving clubs.
Between them, the clubs rally 4-and-a-half thousand volunteer surf lifeguards, who are trained to keep swimmers, and others at the beach, safe.
Today we're off to tiny Maketu in the Western Bay of Plenty to meet surf life saving club stalwart Merehini Meads.
It's a tiny club with a big reputation....
11.30 Motoring - Richard Edwards
New car sales slumped in New Zealand in 2025 and the EV market was particularly hard hit.
So what is 2025 looking like for the car market here?
Susana is joined by Richard Edwards, the managing editor for the Auto Media group, to hear his predictions and about the types of vehicles that are in the pipeline...
11.40 Patea - Jasmine Jones
Today we're travelling to South Taranaki to meet Jasmine Jones - Jasmine's embraced small-town living after moving there from the capital. Home is Patea - which many of us know from the Patea Maori Club and Dalvanius with the legendary Poi E.
