A man has died after a milk tanker rolled into a paddock when it collided with a car in south Taranaki.
The crash happened at 9.30am in Hawera, near the intersection with Ohangai, Tawhiti and Ararata Roads.
Police said the driver of a car was taken to hospital by ambulance, but died of his injuries this afternoon.
The road was closed and diversions were in place while the serious crash unit investigated.
The fatality brings the number of people killed on New Zealand's roads this Christmas holiday to 11, one less than last year's entire holiday road toll.
The holiday period ends at 8am, on 4 January.
