Two young people have been arrested after a worker was injured in an aggravated burglary at a shop in Wellington last night.
Detective Inspector Nick Pritchard said police were told two people had gone into a shop on Dallington Road in Miramar at about 9.35pm and tried to take items.
"While nothing was taken, the store attendant suffered minor injuries, and was understandably distressed by the incident," Pritchard said.
A police dog was used to track the two young people from the store, and they were arrested nearby.
One was charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault and will appear before the Youth Court. The other was referred to Youth Services.
"Police understand incidents like this are concerning for the community, and hope a quick arrest provides some reassurance," Pritchard said.
